Sandy Freese has been interested in all aspects of the Fashion Industry from an early age. Her mother, a gifted seamstress, had her own business in Los Angeles as a contractor of women’s Couture fashions. Sandy spent most of her vacations working in her mother’s factory learning all aspects of the business. She studied Fashion Design at UCLA where she earned her BS, MA and MFA degrees. She worked as a Fashion Designer for Campus Casuals of California in Los Angeles, a manufacturer of junior sportswear. She then accepted a position as instructor and head of the Fashion Design department at North Texas University.
Having always been fascinated by the fashion retail industry, Sandy joined Neiman Marcus in their corporate offices in Dallas, Texas. Her extensive retail experience spanned more than 30 years, including her roles as Assistant Buyer, Department Manager, Buyer, Manager of Executive Training and Development and Manager of Information Services. She worked at Neiman Marcus Beverly Hills as Merchandise Manager and at Neiman Marcus San Diego as Assistant Store Manager of Human Resources.
Sandy brings her expertise to Palomar, where she has been teaching Fashion Buying for over 12 years and has recently developed and is teaching a course in Retail Management.
“When I was working at Neiman Marcus Beverly Hills as the Assistant Store Manager, I was approached by 6 men in black suits from the FBI and US Fish and Wildlife department with a warrant accusing us of having merchandise made from crocodile and boa, both are illegal in California. They proceeded to confiscate $65,000 worth of shoes and handbags! After months of investigation it was found not to be true.”Nan
