Rachael Libolt

rachael Libolt

Rachael had a successful career in the fashion industry following her graduation from California State University at Long Beach with a degree in Textiles and Clothing. She used that industry experience to build her own Wardrobe Consultation and styling business, “one closet and one client at a time”. Subsequently, she was recruited by Saks Fifth Avenue to work as a personal shopper in their exclusive 5th Avenue Club.

When Rachael sent her kids to college, she returned to college and completed her Master’s Degree, in Family and Consumer Science education. She began her teaching career at both Palomar and Mesa Colleges, teaching Fashion and Family and Consumer Science classes.

She enjoys melding her many years of industry experience and fashion research into an exciting classroom so that students will be prepared for the fashion industry. To stay current she regularly attends trade shows and belongs to several professional organizations.

As an instructor she has received numerous awards and accolades including a CA-AFCS research grant that resulted in a Web page that lists many of the North San Diego County fashion businesses that are resources for fashion program internships. Rachael was also asked to present online teaching workshops for both the San Diego Community College District and the International Textile and Apparel Association. In 2012, she was honored to receive The American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences New Achiever Award.

Faculty Xtreme experience

“As a young fashion design student, was that my entire dormitory had to be evacuated after a mishap with the chemicals I used in my fabric dying projects.”
