Course Requirements
*To take this online course you need to have regular access to a reliable computer(s) and also have a backup in case problems arise.

This course requires you to come to the main Palomar campus in San Marcos to take three exams during the semester.   The exams will be administered at the STAR Tutoring/ Proctoring Center located on the first floor in the library at the main campus.  A photo ID, scantron, and a #2 pencil will be needed for each exam. Please note that I cannot make any exceptions to this policy of taking exams on the main campus, and any exceptions to the various dates that exams will be administered. Each exam will be available for at least four days.  You can select which day to take it; however I recommend taking the exam the first two days it is offered.  The tentative exam dates are the following:

Exam #1: Thursday, September 29; Friday, September 30; Saturday, October 1; and Monday, October 3.

Exam #2: Thursday, November 3; Friday, November 4; Saturday, November 5; and Monday, November 7

Exam #3: Monday, December 12; Tuesday, December 13; Wednesday, December 14; Thursday, December 15; Friday, December 16; and Saturday, December 17

Mondays: 9:00am –7:00pm
Tuesdays through Thursdays: 9:00am – 5:00pm
Fridays and Saturdays: 9:00am – noon (12:00pm)
*Note the Tutoring/Proctoring Center collects exams 15 minutes before closing.

General Course Work
The general course work will consist of the following:  (1) weekly readings from the texts and articles posted on Blackboard, (2) weekly timed online quizzes based on chapter readings and Blackboard articles, (3) regular discussion board forums, (4) approximately eight film assignments (mainly watching a film and answering questions on a quiz), and (5) an observational paper. If you are not familiar with online classes, I will be explaining how the class works at the orientation meeting on Tuesday, August 23 from 7:00-8:00pm in LL-109.

Tuesday, August 23, 8:00-9:00pm Orientation Meeting in LL-109 (important information)
If you have never taken an online course you *must* attend the orientation meeting.  If you already have taken an online class (at Palomar or elsewhere) you do not need to attend the orientation; however you will need to post on the discussion board by Tuesday, August 23 by 5:00pm as a form of required attendance.  If you do not post by the deadline you may be dropped from the class.  If you are at the orientation meeting you will be able to post at that time. You will be receiving an e-mail about the course and information about posting on the discussion board a few days before the semester begins. Please make sure your “preferred” e-mail address in e-Services is correct since emails will be automatically sent to that address.

Accessing the Course
If you are enrolled, you should be able to access this online course on Blackboard by Monday, August 22.   I will send an e-mail notifying you when the course is available.

Thank you for taking the time to review the information.  Please feel free to contact me if you have questions. I look forward to working with you this fall semester.

Have a wonderful day.
