For current Palomar College DRC students who are military affiliated, accommodation, general counseling, or other types of appointments can be schedule with the MRE Counselor. To schedule an appointment please contact the DRC by email or by phone 760-744-1150, Ext. 2375 and request an appointment with the MRE Counselor Hira Byrne Paulin.


For non-DRC and/or perspective Palomar College Students interested in learning more about the program, disability resources, educational resources, and/or information about transitioning from service as a service-connected veteran please connect with the MRE Counselor during drop-in hours.

MRE Monthly Event(s) Registration Information

These information sessions are open to anyone in the military community: active duty, transitioning servicemember, reservist, veteran, and military family member. You do not have to be a Palomar College student in order to attend.

MRE Program
The MRE program will be attending a resource fair at Camp Pendleton in the 22 Area Parade Deck. If you are interested in learning more about the program or educational benefits and resources you may be eligible for please come by our booth.

VA HealthCare/Benefits
Jane Babcock a retired CVSO and Army veteran will discuss VA Healthcare and Benefits for the whole family. Understanding programs and services you are eligible for is important not only to the servicemember or veteran, but their family as well. Come to learn and bring your questions. Jane has over 20 years’ experience assisting our military community in learning about and accessing what they’ve earned.

Service2School is providing a Q&A session. Service2School is a free program supporting transitioning servicemembers and veterans in the college application and admissions process. Service2School provides mentorship for admissions to undergraduate and graduate school. During this Q&A you can learn about the Service2School program, as well as address questions and concerns you may have about the college admissions process.

CalVET on VR&E
The California Department of Veterans Affairs will be providing two sessions on the Veteran Readiness and Employment (VR&E) or Chapter 31 benefit. For veterans who are service-connected and may need support in obtaining employment, VR&E is an employment program that you may be eligible for. Attend the session to learn about VR&E, eligibility, and how to get connected.

VA Rating & Accommodations
Do you have a VA Rating? Are you filing for one? Are you currently or plan to use the Veteran Readiness & Employment (VR&E/CH31) benefit? If you are a service-connected veteran or veteran with disabilities, you may be eligible for academic and workplace accommodations. Come learn about accommodations you can utilize in addition to the services you access through the Department of Veterans Affairs.

First hour will be recorded, cover all pertinent information, and Q&A. The last 30mins are reserved for Q&A without recording.

MRE Announcements

Student Ambassadors Wanted!

Student ambassadors must be military affiliated (active duty, veteran, reservist, or military family member) and will support the MRE Program in a variety of ways, they will:

  • Be peer mentors for other military affiliated students interested in DRC services and support the transition from service to student
  • Attend MRE events to gain knowledge as well as to assist with event demands
  • Be part of our student panel when we have opportunities to share about the MRE program and/or DRC program.
