Safety Tips From the Chief of Police

Safety Tips during your shopping:

-          Always be aware of your surroundings

-          Try not to shop at night or alone, you are more susceptible to being victimized at night or while alone

-          Do not carry large amounts of cash.  Only take cash that you need or pay with a credit or ATM card

-          Only carry the credit cards that you would need to shop

-          Be careful when using your ATM card.  If possible, use the ATM machine located inside in a well-populated building or a well-lighted area

-          Safeguard and protect your PIN from the view of others around or near you

-          Avoid carrying a lot of packages or overloading your vehicle with packages

Be extra careful when carrying a wallet or purse.  Only carry what you need in them; they are prime targets for criminals in busy and crowded shopping areas, terminals, and bus stops
