Hello Palomar Community!
We wanted to share some photos from the first 5K with Team Palomar representation. The faculty, staff, family and friends met up in Escondido for the Grape Day 5K. The event delivered on its promise of a fun day for a great cause! Escondido Sunrise Rotary’s Grape Day 5K partnered with the Pacific South Coast Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in their mission to mobilize people and resources to drive research for a cure, and to address the challenges of everyone affected by MS. The participants were able to stick around afterward for the Grape Day Parade and Festival. Each runner also received a free beer at Vinz Wine Bar, a finishers’ medal, a cool tech shirt and an even cooler schwag bag. It was great seeing all the red Palomar College TEAM LIFE shirts. Thank you to everyone who participated and supported this event.
“It was a great race day! Professor Laurel Anderson won 2nd place in her division and Leann Pell won 3rd in her division! We had 30 people which included employees and their family/friends. We were hearing “Go Palomar” as we made our way around the race course. Team Palomar is excited for the next race day!”
Kelly Falcone, 5K participant and TEAM LIFE co-chair
We’re looking forward to seeing Team Palomar out in force at The Carlsbad 5000 on April 3, 2016. We have set up a Palomar College group to take part in this event and have about a dozen members from our campus community signed up already! If you would like to join us, the fee is $25.00 for early registration. The price will increase as we get closer to the race. To join the Palomar team, click on the link below.
Please visit this link to join the team: https://www.raceit.com/register/groups/join.aspx?event=32449&id=16613850&group=558873.
Many of us have downloaded the “Couch to 5K” app, which offers daily instruction/motivation to slowly get you ready for the 5K. Team Life has also begun offering many activities for the fall and will do so again in the spring to assist with preparation. Whether you want to take advantage of the time to prepare or whether a 5K is a walk in the park for you, this event promises to be a lot of fun and a great way to connect as a campus community.
Go Team Palomar!

We are starting week 8 of our Biggest Loser weight loss challenge and I think it may be time for a movie!
When I find myself straying from my diet and wanting to drive thru McDonalds or grab a bag of chips and a cupcake, I know it is time to get back to what I call my healthy mind play list on Netflix. I have the following three movies in my list at all times just ready to hit play. So, what I would like you to do this week is watch one or all of them and report back to us right here on the blog!
