Frank Glasson, a native of Solana Beach, has performed both locally and abroad in the trumpet sections of the San Diego Symphony Orchestra, San Diego Opera, Middel Deutsche Rundfunk Orchestra of Germany, Tokyo Opera of Japan, Cape Town Symphony Orchestra, State Theater and National Chamber Orchestras of South Africa and has appeared as soloist with the latter two. Also an accomplished jazz performer, Frank received a Grammy nomination for “Best Jazz Instrumental Solo” for his improvised solos on the recording “Jazztet” with Westwind Brass in 2006.
As a music educator, Frank has served as conductor of the Pretoria Youth Symphony (South Africa), Jazz Band Director at Palomar College, adjunct Trumpet Professor at San Diego State University, adjunct Trumpet Professor at Palomar College and as conductor of the CYO Wind Ensemble. For eight years, Frank served as the President of the American Federation of Musicians, Local 325 San Diego.
Frank Glasson is a Yamaha performing artist and can currently be seen performing with the Orchestra Nova San Diego, Pacific Symphony of Orange County, La Jolla Playhouse, Broadway San Diego, and Classics 4 Kids Orchestra. He maintains a private teaching studio and is currently the Band Director for the Solana Beach School District.
