Get health insurance or pay a fine
The healthcare reform not only increases future taxes but also adds trillions of dollars to the national debt.
The Congressional Budget Office released the actual costs of the entire healthcare system reform bill President Barack Obama is implementing. By the end of 2019 alone, ‘Obamacare’ would increase the national debt by $341 billion.” Back in 2009, Obama stated to CBS News the “health care reform is not going to add to that deficit. It’s designed to lower it. That’s part of the reason why it’s so important to do, and to do now.”
Ironically, the national debt in 2009 when Obama was a senator was at $1.4 trillion. By the end of 2009 after Obama became president, national debt hit a record of $12 trillion. Currently, it is at $15 trillion in 2012 and is expected to rise to $24 trillion in 2019.
Healthcare should not be determined by monetary value in any case, considering the current 12 million unemployed Americans the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported earlier this month. This is blatantly reprimanding citizens for their financial successes.
“Get insurance, or pay a fine,” is the basis to Obama’s health care plan enacted in 2010 that forces Americans to have insurance coverage, according to CBS News. Americans will be fined $750 or 2 percent of their total income if they do not have insurance coverage by 2014 when the next phase of Obama’s healthcare reform takes effect, stated to CNN.
Americans will also be told by the government which doctors they are able to see, forcing 88 million people to lose their current employer health care plan, stated by HealthCare.gov.
“Individuals that have an income of over $200,000 and those that are married with a collective income of $250,000 a year will be taxed an additional three percent as well as a higher tax on hospital insurance,” stated by CNN.
With the new healthcare reform, citizens are forced to have medical insurance through whom the government decides. Employers must conform to the same ‘federal benefit standards’ package set forth by Obama’s healthcare plan that is limited to: doctors visits, hospitalization, maternity care, mental health care and prescription drug coverage.
Small businesses will experience a hard hit due to this reform. The healthcare plan and CBS News states that companies with more than 50 employees are required to provide medical insurance otherwise will be forced to pay a penalty of $2,500-$3,000 per employee.
“They’re going to have to give up paying for things that don’t make them healthier… If there’s a blue pill and a red pill, and the blue pill is half the price of the red pill and works just as well, why not pay half for the thing that’s going to make you well,” President Obama stated in a speech in 2009.
This does not support the American right to freedom of choice. This informs citizens that healthcare coverage is government-run and is borderline unconstitutional. The Bill of Rights supports the idea of citizens having options and choices. However, the government and the healthcare reform is forcing Americans to not only have insurance, but penalize them a ridiculous amount of money if they don’t. Not to mention, this is all to obtain basic healthcare coverage and generic prescriptions.
