Palomar College to remain closed May 16.

Palomar Community College District has extended the cancelation of classes, final exams, and events for at least one more day and have rescheduled commencement.

Besides the main campus in San Marcos, no classes will be held at Camp Pendleton, Fallbrook High School and the Escondido Education Center according to Palomar’s website.

“Our main concern is safety,” Palomar’s Public Information Officer Laura Gropen said. “We want everybody to stay safe at home with their families.”

The graduation ceremony that was scheduled for May 16 has been postponed until May 19 at 5 p.m. and will take place on the football field at the San Marcos campus.

Students who have missed classes due to the evacuation starting Wednesday evening will be contacted by their instructors regarding make-up exams and assignments.

College officials will decide on Friday whether to cancel Saturday’s activities and classes. Gropen encourages students to periodically check Palomar’s website for updates.
