Palomar hunts for headhunters.
The Governing Board convened on Jan. 26 for a special meeting to discuss and amend, if needed, the request for proposal (RFP) and the timeline for the president search.
During the meeting, the RFP for the consulting committee was unanimously decided to be reissued and discussed again Feb. 9.
This was in part due to only four consulting firms responding, in contrast to the seven responses from the previous search last year.
The board is holding off on forming a search committee, until a consultant is hired.
At the meeting, Adrian Gonzales, Palomar’s interim president, pushed for a decision to be made on the consulting firm by mid-February.
Here are the interview questions for search consultants:
- What unique qualities about Palomar would you relay to potential candidates as you recruit for our next Superintendent/President?
- Describe in detail you process for sourcing, identifying, vetting, and bringing forward the application pool.
- Describe your specific experience to ensure that the executive level candidate pool is diverse and includes individuals who have demonstrated experience working within and for a diverse community.
- How will you vet candidates to ensure that they have verified leadership experience in the areas identified as critical by the Board and college community? (e.g. finance and budget, enrollment management and accreditation.
- Who will be the specific team members that work on the selection process? What aspects of the process will they specifically support and how much time they will devote to Palomar’s Superintendent/President search?
- Clarify the total estimated or expected expenses for this selection process. Please address the fixed fees and any added costs or hourly expenses.
