A wikiup is a cone-shaped house covered with brush or mats made of tules.  This basketmaker is working on a twined basket.  Her wikiup is merely a shelter to sleep in or to use in the case of bad weather.  Living was done outdoors; the outdoors was the livingroom, kitchen, bathroom, workroom and often, the bedroom.
