Elaine's Birthday 2009

I wanted to try the Flightline ride at the Wild Animal Park in Escondido for my birthday. This is the first time I ever rode a zip line.
One-third of the funds raised this year will go to the San Diego Zoo’s California condor conservation program.

All harness up and ready to go.

First we did a practice run on the short zip line course. We were told to keep our legs apart and our elbows straight out. At the end of the ride the instructors on the platform signaled us to push our arms straight forward and lay back vertically, as the stop blocks brought us to a quick but gentle stop. If done correctly, it was an easy, smooth stop. Then they took us by truck over to the large zip line tower on a hill over looking the Wild Animal Park. We sailed over the many of the animals on the South African section of the Park.
