Introduction to Psychology

Welcome to this class.
I'm looking forward to working with you this summer.

An on-campus orientation will be held Fri June 18 from 1pm-2pm pm in LL109. If this is your first online class, I HIGHLY suggest you attend this orientation.

This is NOT a self-paced online class. A schedule will be posted and you are expected to meet the deadlines/due dates for quizzes, exams, discussion board posts, readings, and assignments.

On-line classes "meet" entirely online and can be assessed 7/24 from anywhere. The only on-campus meeting is an orientation. Yet these classes are different from face-to-face classes in another way; that is, you as the student have to take more responsibility for learning the course material; you must be more motivated, more organized, and more self-disciplined  than if you were taking a class on campus. You must consistently set aside at least 6-9 hours a week to study this material. One suggestion from a former “A” student is to actually write on a calendar the  times when you will study and faithfully stick to this schedule.

Your final grade will be based on:
scores from 13 online open book quizzes and 2 online exams
quality of participation in online discussions
scores from multiple assignments
extra credit opportunities

I will open up our Blackboard site on Monday morning June 21 To access our site, go to the Palomar web home page http://www.palomar.edu and click on Blackboard  which is found at the top of the page. That will bring you to the Login screen. Click on Login.

If this is your first online class before clicking Login, click on Students; this will bring to a short tutorial on what is your username and password.
