Granddaughter Blowing Bubbles September 2015
My granddaughter blowing bubbles (Sept. 2015)!

Marlene G. Forney
Associate Professor /Librarian
Systems Librarian
Palomar College

In July 2015, Palomar College updated its webpage. The new site was developed by the College Web Revamp Team. The Team's charge was to use existing resources to facilitate student use, improve our site design  in hopes of more effectively showcasing Palomar's unique courses and resources. This resulted in a decision to use the WordPress platform to create a cohesive site  and approval of a template for use by all departments.

Therefore, as Systems/Technology Librarian, this academic year (AY 2015-2016)  I will be focusing on migrating the library's website to the new template. I will continue working with OCLC's WorldShare Management Services (WMS) and our 'one stop' public catalog WorldCat Local (WCL) to integrate access to our information resources. In this role I also administer library productivity resources such as LibGuides, EasyBib and Sharepoint.

My service to the college will include serving on the Academic Technology, Basic Skills and Service Learning committees. In addition I am the Library representative for the Curriculum Committee, and chair that group's Multicultural Subcommittee.

For Fall 2015 I will teach LT100 Introduction to Libraries and Information Services as an online class using a new textbook, updated SLOs and revised competencies. To learn more about the Library and Information Technology Program visit our program website.

Note- I will be on Sabbatical during the Spring 2016 semester!

Contact me in person at the San Marcos campus Library (LL115C) to discuss concerns about our library catalog, technology issues or access to resources. You can also reach me via email or by telephone at extension 3695.
