Marlene G. Forney
Associate Professor /Librarian
Palomar College

This Spring 2013 semester I transition to a new role at Palomar. With the departure of a colleague to Hawaii (lucky him) I will now serve as the Systems/Technology Librarian for the College. Another new chapter in my service to Palomar learners and those in the field of information science.

This specific assignment within the Library Department involves responsibility for maintenance of the library's website, oversight for operation of our Integrated Library System (the SIRSI catalog) and coordinating technology issues for our library locations (e.g. monitoring access to department online subscriptions, liaison with college Information Services staff, researching ongoing shifts in  the use and development of technology for and by library users).

In the Spring I will teach LT110 Library Operational Skills/Technical Services for the first time as an online class. In support of local students who are uncomfortable with online learning the class will debut with an on campus component Tuesdays from 6-7:30 pm in LB208B.

An orientation meeting will be held Tuesday, January 22, from 6-7:00 p.m. in that same classroom. This will be an optional meeting. It is strongly recommended that those unfamiliar with Blackboard or online instruction participate.

Contact me in person at the San Marcos campus Library (LL115B) to discuss library catalog, technology issues or access concerns. You can also reach me via email or by telephone at extension 3695.
