Hotel
carpet colored suitcase
Lies abandoned; broken on the red dirt street.
Woman running, she doesn’t make it before the barrage.
School book, Bullet hole blazed through it.
Where my childhood would have been.
They cry, but there is no sound,
Save the stinger missile screaming by my ear.
It ends with a soldier in pieces.
Falling like a shattered beer bottle
Shot off a punctured wall.
“Shed their blood,” says the Commander.
He shrieks, charcoal painted devil
Lusting after that pink luminous rock.
With eyes of fire, his fangs scream no mercy.
My brothers in blood beside me,
We follow the white pigs into their pens
“Don’t you dare fucking shoot kid.”
Blue eyes behind the rifle scope
My face shines back at me in a black pool of blood;
Who are those teeth painted white
Against that dark Nothing?
“Put down the fucking gun!”
Disobedience means death,
But words shot out of my mouth,
Followed by a raised weapon.
Bullets sing like a drum beat,
We dance my brothers,
We dance until there is no diamond left.
