Welcome to the AODS and SWHS Certification Programs

Alcohol and Other Drug Studies (AODS) Program:

The State of California now requires that anyone who provides counseling services in alcohol and other drug treatment programs be certified.

Palomar College offers an 11 course Certificate Program that will prepare you to become certified to work in this exciting field. Palomar College offers both a Certificate and AA Degree in Alcohol and Other Drug Studies (AODS).

The Palomar College AODS program is accredited by both the California Association of Alcohol and Drug Educators (CAADE) CAADE  and the California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals (CCAPP) ccapp.us 

The AODS Program provides the student with the academic training and hands on experience for entry-level employment in delivery of alcohol and other drug treatment services and serves as a preparation for California state examinations as a certified addictions treatment counselor by  CCAPP/IC&RC,     CADTP and CAADE

Social Work and Human Services (SWHS) Certificate and A.S. Degree Achievement 18 units/more :

Provides students with the academic training and hands-on experience for entry-level employment in social work and human services or to meet lower division requirements for a major in Human Development or Social Work, leading to a Bachelor’s of Arts or Bachelor’s in Science in Human Development or Social Work at a California State University (CSU).  Articulates with San Diego State University (SDSU).

Psychological and Social Services (PSS) Program:

This program is being deactivated and is replaced by the Social Work and Human Services Program.  Students currently in the process of achieving this certificate have the option to complete this certification.
