What happened to Blackboard?
Palomar started using Blackboard’s course management system way back in March of 1998. But in December of 2016 the Palomar faculty senate made the decision to transition to using the Canvas learning management system instead. During the 2017 calendar year faculty had the option to use Blackboard or Canvas, but starting with the Spring 2018 term course sites were only provided in Canvas.
What is the Blackboard Course Life Cycle?
(i.e., how long will courses remain on the server?)
Student access ended on Tuesday, January 2, 2018. Students will not be able to log into Blackboard at all.
For instructors the courses from Spring, Summer, and Fall of 2017 will remain available on the Blackboard system until Sunday, May 27, 2018. After that instructors will lose access to Palomar’s Blackboard system. Only instructors may log into Blackboard now.
