JoVia Armstrong – Concert Hour

April 15 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm PDT

| free

This event features an artist collective created by JoVia Armstrong called Eunoia Society which
is comprised of various projects where each ensemble of the collective have varying purposes
and processes for creating music. This particular event features a few members of the
ensemble and they will present music using live instrumentation with parallel effects processing.
The compositional works of Celestial Roads is an attempt to explore and re-imagine the
concepts of visionaries such as Sun Ra in a more modern way to create music that takes the
audience into different, subjectively beautiful spaces.

Eunoia Society offers a telematic performance to anyone looking to do a bit of cognitive space
traveling through music. Leslie DeShazor will be located in Detroit, MI, playing viola. Elden Kelly
will be on guitar from Lansing, MI. And JoVia Armstrong will perform from Los Angeles on
percussion and electronics. As it is difficult to create a fully immersive show online, they will
create sound palettes through the genre of experimental music from the jazz canon using effect
processing with the help of composer and technologist Teerath Majumder controlling the
technical aspects of the performance.
