The following discussion took place at the April 12, 2017 meeting of the Human Resource Services Planning Council:


  • Staffing Master Plan Update – S. Cohen reported the Governance Structure Group Request for the new Staffing Plan 2022 Development Task Force is going to the next SPC meeting for second reading and final approval. The new Task Force will have broad representation from all constituent groups and updates from the meetings will come back to the Planning Councils.
  • Reclassification Process – S. Cohen reported the Classified Unit Classification Study was approved, implemented, and is now complete. The District is now engaged in the reclassification process (outlined in the District/CCE Agreement under Article 10). This process provides permanent, non-probationary classified employees with the opportunity to have their positions reviewed during the annual reclassification cycle.  Reward Strategy Group (RSG) has been retained to review the reclassification requests and provide recommendations.
  • VPHRS Search Update – S. Cohen reported the District is currently searching for an administrator to serve as the interim Vice President Human Resource Services until the position is filled permanently.
  • New South Center Update – There was a brief discussion regarding staffing needs for the new Rancho Bernardo Center which is scheduled to open Fall 2018.
