Clarification Issued on COVID-19 Vaccination Mandate for Employees and Students

It is imperative to understand the District’s steadfast commitment to the health and safety of students and employees.  The COVID-19 Vaccination Mandate for employees working onsite and students enrolled in face-to-face courses was clarified today by Superintendent/President Dr. Star Rivera-Lacey.

By October 11, both students and employees are required to submit proof of a COVID-19 vaccination or submit a request for a religious or medical exemption.  Those with an approved exemption will be required to submit to weekly COVID-19 testing.  Testing will be made available at the main campus in San Marcos and at the education centers in Fallbrook, Escondido, and Rancho Bernardo.  There is no cost for testing and will be scheduled during campus hours of operation.  The testing schedule details are forthcoming.

Employees who desire to request an exemption from the COVID-19 Vaccination mandate for medical reasons, must complete this employee medical exemption form.  Those seeking an exemption for religious reasons, should complete the employee religious exemption form.  Employees who have been fully vaccinated, but have not yet submitted proof of vaccination, can send proof to Human Resources in one of three ways:
1. (PREFERRED) Send an email to benefits@palomar.edu. In the subject line, enter “COVID-19 Proof of Vaccination”, and include your name, employee ID#, and proof.
2. U.S. Mail: Palomar College (Attn: Benefits Office), 1140 W. Mission Rd., San Marcos, CA 92069
3. Fax: (760) 761-3530
If you have lost or misplaced your physical vaccination card, please visit Digital COVID-19 Vaccine Record (ca.gov) to obtain a replacement digital copy of your vaccination card for submission. You may also call the site you received your vaccination to request an additional physical vaccination card.  Palomar College employees should address all mandate related concerns or questions to their supervisor.

Students taking face-to-face courses can submit proof of vaccination or submit a request for a religious or medical exemption from the COVID-19 vaccine through the My Palomar Student Portal.
Specific instructions to do so are available here.  If students are unable to complete one of the above requirements by Monday, October 11, they should email vpstudentservices@palomar.edu.

The College has several vaccination clinics planned.  The schedule is available here. You can find a complete list of the College’s COVID-19 mitigation and prevention strategies here.
