The San Diego Chapter of the Association for Women in Science (AWIS) is offering scholarships to community college, undergraduate, and graduate women in San Diego County who are in pursuit of a degree in science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM). Because you are in a position to inspire and encourage future scientists, attached is information about the AWIS San Diego scholarships that we hope you will share with your students.
Each year we award $1000 scholarships to women pursuing degrees in the STEM fields in San Diego County. AWIS San Diego scholarship recipients are not only achieving academic success, they are also involved in community outreach programs related to their fields of study, and AWIS San Diego is proud to support them in their pursuit of a scientific career.
Please help us to encourage aspiring women scientists by posting the attached AWIS San Diego Scholarship flyer on a student information board or website and e-mailing your students. The scholarship application may be downloaded by visiting “www.awissd.org” and following the “Opportunities” link, followed by the “Scholarship” link. We have also included a powerpoint slide that can be added to lectures.
If you or your students have any questions about AWIS San Diego or the Scholarship Program, please feel free to visit the AWIS San Diego website (www.awissd.org) or contact me for further information.
