Palomar College Dental Assisting

Registered Dental Assisting Program

Welcome to San Diego North County’s ONLY Nationally Accredited RDA Program

Palomar College and Mesa College RDA Programs are the only programs in San Diego County that are recognized by the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB), allowing you to become a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA). Other Dental Assisting programs will not give you the education necessary to become a Certified Dental Assistant.  In addition to becoming an RDA and a CDA, Palomar College awards the following required certificates in the state of California: Pit and Fissure Sealants, Radiation Safety (X-ray), Coronal Polishing, Infection Control and California Dental Practice Act.

Graduates from the RDA program are required to take a state board examination and are eligible to take the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB). Become a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) AND a California Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) at the same time and at NO extra cost!

Why pay thousands of dollars to other schools that will only give you certification in the  state of California and a poor passing rate on state examinations? The Registered Dental Assisting Program at Palomar College is VERY affordable! Click on “Costs” above.

Palomar Registered Dental Assistants are in high demand and have starting salaries from $22 to $25+ per hour!

Dental offices regularly  request our graduates to fill open positions in their offices.

For more information, attend an orientation. For program information and questions, please call 760.744-1150 ext.2571

The week of March 23 – March 27 is Spring Break and the campus is closed.  Beginning March 30, due to Governor Newsom’s Stay At Home order and our commitment to minimize and mitigate the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), all classes and lab courses will be delivered in an off-site format that will be identified by instructors.  Instructors will contact their students to inform them as to how to engage in their coursework and class time.
