Academic Review Committee Petition

Academic Review Committee Petition Form

Purpose: Request an exception to an academic policy or procedure

Documentation Required: Varies with each student’s reason for petitioning
Processing Timeframe: Typically 1-2 meetings per semester, usually near the end of the term

Course Repetition Petition

Course Repetition Petition Form

Important: Valid Reasons to Submit Petition

Purpose: Petition to demonstrate the necessity to retake a course in excess of the allowable limit or retake a course you have already passed

Documentation Required: Documents to support extenuating circumstances; see Section 5 of the College Catalog for a description of valid circumstances

Course Substitution/Waiver Petition

Course Substitution/Waiver Petition Form

Purpose: Obtain permission from an academic department to substitute or waive a course required to complete an Associate Degree or Certificate of Achievement program

Documentation Required: Unofficial transcripts and/or course descriptions
Processing Timeframe: Depends on the academic department, typically up to 2 weeks
Student Notification: Typically student-initiated or through degree or certificate program evaluation


Duplicate Diploma Request

Duplicate Diploma Request Form

Purpose: Request a copy of your diploma or certificate award

Documentation Required: Possible name change documentation
Processing Timeframe: Typically within 1-3 weeks

Enrollment Priority Petition

Enrollment Priority Petition Form

For Group 2 Priority based on student’s last term of enrollment prior to graduation or transfer

Note: This is a once-in-a-lifetime request

Purpose: Declare a registration term as your last term of attendance prior to graduation or transfer in order to receive priority enrollment for that term. This is a once-in-a-lifetime petition for this type of priority enrollment.

Foreign Transcript Evaluation Agencies Form

Purpose: Request an evaluation for coursework completed in a foreign country.

Purpose: This is a competence examination. No units or grade are given for this examination.


Graduation Petition

Graduation Petition Form

  • Associate Degree (60+ unit program)
  • Associate Degree for Transfer (60 unit program)
  • Certificate of Achievement (18+ unit program)
  • Certificate of Proficiency (less than 18 units)
  • Transfer Certification (37-39 units)

Purpose: Apply for degree or certificate of achievement award, or for general education lower-division certification for transfer to a university

Processing Timeframe: Approximate timeframes for each term:

Documentation Required: None
Processing Time-frame: Within the same semester

Requisite Clearance Request

Requisite Clearance Request Form

  • If the prerequisite is only a Math or English class, please contact assessment@palomar.edu to request clearance.
  • If the prerequisite is a Math or English class plus another class, please submit a requisite clearance form. (Example: MATH 245 has prerequisites of MATH 130 or 140 plus CSCI 112.)
  • If the prerequisite is a class other than math or English, please submit a requisite clearance form.

Note: The Evaluations Office cannot clear prerequisites using high school coursework. We are only able to clear prerequisites with college coursework or test scores such as AP. If you do not meet the prerequisites for a class, you can contact the academic department directly and submit a requisite challenge form.

CHEM 110/110L clearance: The Chemistry department requires completion of CHEM 100 plus Intermediate Algebra (or higher-level math) in order to be cleared to take CHEM 110/110L. High school coursework is not accepted. If you have not taken a Fundamentals of Chemistry class with a lab at the college level plus an approved math course, the Evaluations Office cannot clear you for CHEM 110/110L. Please contact the Chemistry department directly for further questions.
