« Fire Alarm Testing – San Marcos Campus, November 21, 2016 through November 23, 2016
Please be advised that Red Hawk Fire & Security LLC will be conducting a campus-wide fire alarm test and sprinkler inspections the week of Monday, November 21, 2016, through Wednesday, November 23, 2016. The testing could last all day.
Buildings affected are as follows:

- Building DA
- Building DR
- Building FD
- Building G
- Building HC
- Building ITC
- Building LL
- Building M
- Building MC
- Building NS
- Building O
- Building P
- Building PAC
- Building RS

- Student Union Building Complex
- Swimming Pool
- Wellness Fitness Center
Although there are several events on campus, we will work around those events so as to not impact them (Swimming Pool).
The testing is loud. Please contact your Supervisor for ear plugs if you feel you need them.
« Firewood for Sale – updated 11/17/2016
Stock up on mixed varieties of firewood (Ash, Eucalyptus, Oak) for the winter season! The Grounds Services area of the Facilities Department is once again selling firewood with all proceeds benefiting campus grounds beautification. Delivery is unavailable. The wood is aged and cut-ready to burn. Sale is open to all staff and students (please provide photo id/PIC Card in order to purchase the wood).
Firewood is sold on a first-come, first-served basis.
Pricing is as follows:
- Large trucks $75
- Small trucks $50
- SUVs $40
- Passenger car $30 (with backseat down)
- Trunk $20
You must pay first at the Foundation Office Reception Desk – employee Dee Kremis, Rooms AA-130-134. They are open Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.; however, during the holiday/semester break, they will have limited hours so please call them at extension 3103 before paying (cash, checks, credit cards). Please bring your receipt when you pick-up your wood. Pickup times are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

« Parking Lot 12 Construction Drilling Resumes Monday, 11/7/16 – posted 11/3/16
Please be aware that McCarthy Construction will resume drilling in lot 12 on Monday, November 7, 2016. In an effort to reduce the amount of noise, the contractor is building a temporary sound wall which is lined with sound attenuation blankets. This wall will be placed between the drill rig and the campus. Despite these measures, the noise levels are expected to be elevated. This drilling will be ongoing for the next few weeks.
« Vehicle Routing of Comet Circle at Lot 9 near the Early Childhood Education Lab School – posted 9/8/2016
Beginning Friday, September 9, 2016, Comet Circle at the Early Childhood Education Lab School will be closed to through traffic. Traffic will be routed through LOT 9. A vendor, GEM Industries, will be installing crosswalk lighting at the entrance/exit to the ECE Lab School to enhance safety.
There will be an abundance of signage and traffic control with the changes.

Beginning Monday, August 22, 2016, the perimeter road (between the former location of the Child Development Center, CES & T Buildings) will re-open between LOT 12 and Comet Circle; however Comet Circle will be closed between the Humanities & MD Buildings and the new Parking Structure in LOT 12. This area will eventually become a pedestrian pathway, eliminating the need for students to cross Comet Circle to get to classes. This new section of the loop road system is a component of the Facilities Master Plan. This will make Comet Circle one-way, east to west, from the NS Building to LOT 12.
There will be an abundance of signage and traffic control with the changes.
« Between Parking Lot #12 on Perimeter Road to Comet Circle – posted 7/1/2016
Beginning Tuesday, July 5, 2016, the perimeter road (between the torn-down old Children’s Center, CES & T Buildings) between LOT 12 and Comet Circle will be closed until Monday, 8/22/2016. There will be no access from LOT 12; however employees and students will be able to access the CES & T Buildings from Comet Circle (across from the Library Construction Zone).
« Library/LRC Construction Fencing Install – posted 5/16/2015
Temporary construction fencing will be installed beginning the week of May 26th in preparation for the start of construction on the new Library/Learning Resource Center project.
Staff Parking Lot 11 will be closed beginning Tuesday, May 26.
« Graffiti Reporting: – updated 5/16/15
The Facilities Office receives a lot of phone calls and emails from employees reporting graffiti on our campuses. Please refer to the following paragraph regarding the reporting process:
Graffiti is an eyesore. It is costly, destructive, and is against the law (California Penal Code 594.2). Palomar College is committed to a prompt response to graffiti that occurs on campus and requests that all departments and individuals on campus promptly notify Campus Police at extension 2289 or 760/891-7273. Once a report has been issued, Campus Police will e-mail the report to the Facilities Office who will dispatch the appropriate tradesperson.
« Environmental Health & Safety Cart Operations Reminder – updated 5/16/15
ATTENTION ALL DISTRICT AUTHORIZED CART OPERATORS
Please remember that all carts must refrain from driving on the main sidewalk during the hours of 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Exemptions are the Disability Resource Center (transporting students) and Health Services personnel (during emergencies only)
Please utilize Comet Circle from the top of campus (near the RS Buildings to the PAC Building) or the Fire Lane (near the NS Building to the O-Building).
Please remember also to:
- Give right-of-way to ALL foot traffic
- The speed limit for carts shall be no faster than pedestrian traffic
- Cart operators are to pay particular attention to the needs of disabled persons, as limitation in vision, hearing or mobility may impair their ability to see, hear or move out of the way of the carts
- Car operators are not to block the path or limit pedestrian access
- AT NO TIME AT ALL, are carts allowed to drive on the lawns — this is especially true for the area between the buildings of AA/ST and MD.
- Do not operate or park a cart on a sidewalk unless there is enough room for an ADA device to pass
- The use of earphones, earplugs, headsets, cellular phones (including texting), and portable radios are prohibited while driving
With the increased congestion in both vehicular and pedestrian traffic, safety and caution are absolutely critical.
When driving maintenance carts on campus, please do not drive along the sidewalks:
- Behind the DA Building to and from the NS Building. This is a pedestrian sidewalk not an established access route for carts. To reach the NS Building, please enter from the Comet Circle side to the driveway access.
- Side portion of the HS Building. This is a pedestrian sidewalk not an established access route for carts.
REMEMBER, the pedestrian always has the right of way!
