Frequently Asked Questions: Current Students

The current regulation requires students to take a minimum of 9 units of traditional in-class instruction before we can take online courses.

Due to the scope of the pandemic, SEVP (Student and Exchange Visitor Program) has issued a guidance temporarily removing the condition for distance education. You are now allowed to take all courses online for the Fall 2020 semester.

Yes, you may return home and complete the classes online from your home country.

We do not know when we will return to the office, but all the support services will be provided online. You can complete the appropriate request forms posted at https://www2.palomar.edu/pages/internationalstudents/student-forms-2/ and send to internationalstudents@palomar.edu. We will send you the item requested to your student email account.

If you completed the Graduation Petition, then your Certificate or Degree will be mailed to your permanent address. The deadlines are Sept 30th for the Fall term, February 28th for the Spring term and June 30th for the Summer session. There is no deadline for CSUGE or IGETC Certification.

Please complete the Last Semester Questionnaire and send it to internationalstudents@palomar.edu. It is very important that you do this, so we can take care of your SEVIS record appropriately.

If you are transferring to another school, please also send a copy of the Acceptance email that you received and the SEVIS Release Request to internationalstudents@palomar.edu.

You can still make an online Counseling appointment. Just email internationalstudents@palomar.edu and tell us what time works for you. All available times are between 11:00 am and 4:00 pm, Pacific Standard Time and our Counselor is available on Thursday only.

URGENT Notice for Newly Accepted Students

As of March 18, 2020 (U.S. time), consular services at U.S. Embassies and consulates have been suspended. You may not be able to make any visa interview appointments, and previously made appointments are being canceled. Please contact the American Embassy or U.S. Consulate in your area to find out when they will resume their services.

Frequently Asked Questions: Newly Accepted Students

New Overseas Students for the Fall 2020 term are not able to come to the U.S. to start your studies. All Fall 2020 classes are being offered online. You can take all of your classes online while you are in your home country.

Please check with CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention) travel advisory at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/from-other-countries.html and find out if your county has any restriction to enter the U.S.
