Faculty Services

Instructor Reserves

Palomar faculty may place personal copies of books, articles, media, etc. in the library for reserved student use.

Instruction & Information Literacy

Palomar faculty are encouraged to use our online request forms to schedule an information literacy consultation or a library instruction session for their students.

Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

If the library does not own the books or articles you need, it may be possible to get them from another library through Interlibrary Loan (ILL). You can now directly request books or articles NOT available from Palomar through our Library catalog (WorldCat Local).  You can also still use our email forms to request books and media or periodicals.

Palomar faculty may request ordering of books, periodicals, media, or online resources for the Library collection. The library has a selection policy which provides guidelines for how we select items for our collections. For more information, contact the librarian subject specialist for your department.

Library Workshops
Attend the online workshop EXTERNAL TRAINING: What’s New in the Library and earn PD credit while learning about Library resources and services for Faculty at Palomar College. The workshop takes approximately 30-60 minutes to go through. To claim PD credit, add it as a self-designed activity in the External Training section of your Professional Development contract  (enter “Palomar College Library PD Activities” as the activity title).  We also offer in-library workshops at the San Marcos campus and Escondido Center throughout the year. Check you email for announcements of these.

Streaming Media

Online streaming media, including educational, instructional and feature films, can be found in the Library databases.  VHS or DVDs not available online from the Library may be eligible for streaming onto the College’s streaming server, Kaltura. For more information about the streaming server, consult the Academic Technology Streaming Server webpage.
