Transfer Resources

If you’re thinking about transferring to a four-year university, check out these resources for help:

  • Assist.org — California’s website for information about transfer and articulation requirements between two-year colleges and four-year universities.

  • California Community College Transfer website — This site is similar to assist.org, but also shows which universities have agreements with us.  It includes info about Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU’s), too.
  • Palomar College Transfer Center — Interested in transferring to a CSU or UC campus?  If so, visit the Transfer Center’s homepage for help with the transfer process.
  • Handout on writing UC application essays –I put together this handout on how to write your UC application essays for Fall 2018 admission: UC Essays 2017 Guidelines
  • A worksheet from a UC admissions rep to help you get started writing your Personal Insight Questions

  • A 2013 PowerPoint presentation done by an admissions representative from UCLA about the admission process for transfer students

  • Occupational Outlook Handbook — This handbook is put out by the U.S. Government’s Bureau of Labor Statistics.  It’s an excellent resource that allows you to research various jobs.  For example, if you’re thinking about being a high school teacher, you can research what kind of education you’ll need, what the job is like on a day-to-day basis, what the outlook of the job will be like in the future, and how much money you can expect to make.

  • Money magazine’s 2018 article about the top U.S. universities, ranked in terms of superiority of education and affordability; UCSD, UCI, and UCLA are ranked 2, 3, and 4, and several other UC and CSU campuses are also ranked highly on the list
