The Great Wall of China

To get to the Great Wall of China you drive one hour north of Beijing.  When you get there you see an ancient series of walls and fortifications, totaling more than 13,000 miles in length. Qin Shi Huang is the one who conceives the idea of building the Great Wall to prevent invasions from barbarian nomads.

When people come to China, many want to see the Great Wall and to walk on it.  When they arrive at one location called Padaling, many tourists get excited when they see how beautiful and majestic the wall is.  As they climb the steps to start the walk, they discover there are so many people who have the same idea of walking on the Great wall. When they first start, they feel excited and energetic.  But after 30 minutes they realize that they have a difficult walk because the wall goes up and down, and in some places the pavement is not even.  The walkway on the wall is not always flat or even like a normal street or roadway.  So in time after 20 to 40 minutes of walking the people turn around and return to where they have started.  It is impossible to keep on going because the wall stretches 13,000 miles long.  But the walk gives everyone joy and energy, because the people get a good exercise, meet other tourists along the way, and stop and admire the magnificent view of the landscape and all the thousands of thousands of people walking on the wall like ants.  A person can never forget the experience and the walk on the Great Wall because it is the only one in the world.  You must see it and walk on it to understand the experience.
