David Chase was a full-time faculty member at Palomar from 1974 until his retirement in 2009, serving variously as music department chairman, conductor of choruses and conductor of the Community Orchestra, as well as teaching music literature and theory courses. He has degrees from The Ohio State University and University of Michigan. He has conducted the La Jolla Symphony Chorus at UCSD since moving to San Diego from Ohio in 1973.  Dr. Chase performed with the Emory au Quercy Chamber Choir under Robert Shaw in Souillac, France, and was a fellow in the Melodious Accord Fellowship with Alice Parker in New York City.

Dr. Chase has made ten foreign tours with members of the La Jolla Symphony Chorus, who were the first western choir to sing in the Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan.
