National Emergency Library

The National Emergency Library lets you electronically borrow books for 14 days.  They have over 14,000 titles available.

Here are the instructions…

  1. Go to https://archive.org/details/nationalemergencylibrary
  2. Sign up with your email and choose a password
  3. Search for a title to borrow in the upper right part of the window (enter a search term and click the magnifier icon)
  4. When a page comes up with your title (or list of titles), click “Borrow” button on the book you want to borrow.
  5. Another window opens, with a preview of your book… click on the “Borrow this Book” button
  6. Now click on the Download button that says PDF/ePub
  7. You will see a pop-up that looks like this…Popup Window for downloading software
  8. Click on the button to “Install Adobe Digital Editions” software (you need that to read the book
  9. After the software installs, click on the “Encrypted Adobe PDF” button.
  10. It will download a file with an “.acsm” extension.  You must open this file with the Adobe Digital Editions app.
