It is a great time to be a teacher. There are so many tools that help with assessment, classroom discussions, online quizzes, podcasts and video creation. The tools listed below are by no means the only, or even a fair sample, of the teaching and learning tools that exist in the market.
- Padlet – is a tool that includes boards, documents, and web pages that are easy to read and fun to contribute to.
- Socrative – is a classroom app for fun, effective engagement and on-the-fly assessments.
- Sway – is an easy-to-use digital storytelling app for creating interactive reports, presentations, personal stories and more.
- Voicethread is a tool that allows Instructors and/or students to create, share, and comment on images, Microsoft PowerPoint presentations, videos, audio files, documents, and PDFs, using microphone, webcam, text, phone, and audio-file upload.
- FlipGrid – is a social learning platform that allows educators to ask a question, then the students respond in a video.
- Kahoot – is a tool for using technology to administer quizzes, discussions or surveys.
- Pod-o-Matic is a tool for making simple audio podcasts.
- PeerGrade is a peer assessment tool where you create assignments in PeerGrade, develop a scoring guide or rubric, and PeerGrade randomly assigns students as peer assessors and thus allows them to provide one another with feedback.
- Wizer.me is a tool for making worksheets.
- ClassKick – is a tool that allows teachers to post assignments for students, so both the teacher and peers can provide feedback on the assignment. Students can monitor their progress and work.
- The Queue – is a tool that mirrors Twitter and allows teachers to post questions and students to respond via the thread.
- Quizlet – Create flashcards, tests, quizzes, and study games that are engaging and accessible online and via a mobile device.
