Transitions Program: From Corrections to College

Welcome to the Palomar College Transitions Program and congratulations on taking the next step to your better, brighter, PalomarPowered future. The Transitions Program provides currently and formerly incarcerated individuals a smooth transition into the Palomar College community. The program encompasses two components: Its classes that take place at the Vista Detention Facility and its on-campus program, where formerly incarcerated students form a community and take classes together. At the Vista Detention Facility, Palomar professors teach credit courses to currently incarcerated students. On campus at Palomar College, each summer the Transitions Program recruits about 25 formerly incarcerated and system-impacted students who take classes together and participate in group activities. Formerly incarcerated and system-impacted students are also welcome to join the Transitions Collective and community throughout the year.
