Veterans COVID-19 FAQ

Latest VA Update (April 2, 2020)

Dear military-affiliated students,

I hope that this finds you healthy and well. Our office has continued to work diligently to meet your needs during these uncertain and chaotic times.

At this time, the VA has instructed us to report all term date changes in VA Once (the electronic system we use when reporting student enrollment to the VA). It’s important to understand how this may impact you. Fast Track 1 courses will be reported as ending 4/4/2020. Fast Track 2 courses will be reported as beginning 4/6/2020. Some classes will vary slightly by the day (example: some will start 4/7/2020). If you are in an FT1 or FT2 course, please check eServices to verify any changes to start and end dates.

Typically, term date changes would cause the VA to recalculate payments. We are unsure at this time how the VA will proceed. We are reporting all changes with remarks “COVID-19” so the VA is aware these are changes that are out of the students’ control. We know this can be a lot to process. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at veterans@palomar.edu.

I wish you each the best as we move through the second half of the semester.

Respectfully,

Jessica Horn
Supervisor, Veterans Services
