Courses prepare students for certification examinations administered by the State of California Department of Drinking Water as well as those administered by professional association within the water and wastewater industry.
Current instructors are experienced water and wastewater professionals and experts in the industry practice of their field of study. Classes are built around practical examples of real-0world scenarios, demonstrations and field trips to maximize understanding of the subject matter.
Operators are trained to understand the physicals, chemical and biological process associated with water and wastewater treatment as well as understand the complex mechanical, electrical and instrumentation required to successfully operate and monitor the processes. Operators are also trained to respond to emergencies and ensure that proper steps are taken to protect the facilities and public health.
In addition, tap water and wastewater are highly regulated by the US Environmental Protection Agency and other state and local agencies and operators, understanding and complying with these regulations are a key responsibility.
