Angela Smith, is one of the students running for vice president of ASG this year. Smith is a Political Science major, with this being her second year on campus, as well as second year involved with the ASG.

“I felt it was the way to get more involved,” Smith said. “I wanted to be on a more hands on level, and decided to work my way up.”

One of Smith’s old friends, Brittany Polar, explained why she feels that Smith is the best candidate for vice president.

“Students should vote for Angela because she is reliable, trustworthy, and an overall joy to be around. She is motivated and driven to create a better community and experience on campus,” Poler said. “Angela would make a great vice president because she is dedicated to her community. She not only cares about her fellow classmates but she is proactive about getting them to be the best they can be.”

Michael Nagtalon, a current delegate for ASG, noted, “She is very passionate about what she does…and is emotionally supportive. She doesn’t want you to feel pressured and she is always worried about how you feel.”

Additionally, Palomar student Anthony White, is running for ASG vice president. White is in his second year on campus for business management. He is a retired marksman trainer in the Marine Corps and a single father with sole custody.

For a brief time, White was homeless and living out of his truck This drove him to be passionate about making a change for homeless students on campus. He transferred from Mira Costa and decided he wanted to get involved at Palomar.

“I saw in the paper that ASG was having elections and I thought ‘what a great opportunity to represent my peers,’” White said. “I also felt compelled to do something, and be a part of something.”

One of White’s friends, Maxim Belov, shared that he served with him in the Marine Corps and mentioned, “He’s really motivated and goes above and beyond the bare minimal that is required of him.”

Blake Espes, a co-worker of White’s, stated, “He guided me through how things operated…and seemed very resourceful. He goes out of his way to help everybody. If he sees something that he can help improve, he will do his best. Believe it or not I have only known him for four months and he has become a great friend. He has talked about how he in the future wants to run for President of the United States and is just extremely passionate about improving things and I believe he will do it well.”
