Gloria Castaneda (1949 - 2011)...

working on a sifting tray made from juncus and deergrass.  First she splits the juncus into strips 1/8" wide.  Then she pierces a hole where she wants the stitch placed then she pokes the sharpened tip of the strip into the hole.  Then she pulls it tight.  Then she pierces and pokes and pulls until the strip is used up.  Then she adds a new strip and the whole process begins again.
