Fishing on the Pacific Coast of North America

More techniques than this were used and I will add them to this page as I am able.

This line has four hooks and one sinker and excess length is stored on a shuttle or spool.  The reddish color of the line makes me think it may be spun from Indian Hemp or Dogbane (Apocynum cannibinum).

The hook on the left is cut from an abalone shell and is a common style.  The hooks in the center ar made from fishhook cactus spines.  The harpoon is another typical fishing device.
