Artic Watercraft

Kayaks were boats for individuals as you can see in the photo on the top.  Each is covered in watertight skins stretched over a driftwood frame.

 

 

Umiaks were also made of watertight skins stretched over a wooden frame, but were designed to carry crews of ten or more men.

 

 

From these boats the Inuit hunted sea mammals.
