Gaming

Gaming was enjoyed by almost everyone.  There were games of endurance, speed, and agility; games of chance, psychology, and concentration; and games of strategy, problem solving, and memory.  There were card games and dice games and stick games and ball games.  There were races and relays on foot and horseback.  There were individuals and teams, old favorites and talented new comers, in head-to-head competitions which could end in celebration or tragedy, like games everywhere do.  Betting on games was common and the stakes were often high as the winner frequently "takes all."
