Daily Assignment

Monday, February 23

We will meet in room MB-11  at 1:00 p.m.

This is week 6 of the semester.  I should have received your weekly e-mail update for week 5 by today.

Bring with you to class today:

1.  Your working draft of essay 1.

Bring two (2) paper copies to class and upload your essay to the Pluto server by ftp before class. See the FTP Instructions for how to do this.  Review the format and requirements for working drafts  if you need to.

2.  Your print handbook (K&M).

On Wednesday, we will not have a regular class meeting.  You will schedule individual conferences with me to review your working drafts.  Your revised essays will be due next Monday, March 2.

Complete the following reading by Wednesday:

DIH  2: Developing and Revising an Essay.  This is a substantial reading assignment from your on-line handbook.  Note that it includes all five sub-sections of this chapter, 2.1 through 2.5, so don't just read the introductory paragraph, read the whole chapter.  It is about how to revise your essay.  It will be most useful to you if you read it before undertaking major revision of your working draft.  Please read it completely and carefully.  It will address many of your questions about revision.  We will be referring back to it all semester, and I will be using much of this material to comment on your revised essays.  So don't skip it.  Actually read it.  Then apply it in revising your essay.

Note: We will not have a regular class meeting this Wednesday or next Monday.  Instead, you will schedule an individual conference with me, in my office.  This conference is important.  Make careful note of the time, and be there on time.  Your revised essay will be due next Tuesday (not Monday or Wednesday) online.

Complete the following writing by the time of our scheduled meeting:

Revise your essay and bring the revised copy, on paper, to our meeting.

Reminder.  You should have completed the following reading by today:

Thinking About Peer Review.

You should have completed the following writing by today:
