This Week's Work:  Monday, March 2


This is week 7 of the spring semester.  You should submit your weekly update by the end of the day today. 

Complete the following reading this week:

1.  McHenry, chapter 7.

2.  Find and read at least two Internet sites and two periodical articles from the on-line data bases that are relevant to a topic you are thinking about writing on.

3.  Review the Internet sites posted by the members of your group in your Group Discussion Board (see below).

Complete the following writing this week:

1.  Discussion of McHenry, Chapter 7.   Discussion Forum will be posted by today.

2.  By Wednesday, post in your Group Discussion Board (not the general discussion board but the one available only to the members of your editorial group through your group page) your trial thesis statement and the Internet addresses of two Internet sites that are relevant to the topic you are thinking about writing on.  In your posting summarize what you might try to argue from the source and provide a summary of why you think the source is a good one.

3.  Reply to each of the postings with your analysis and criticism of the thesis statements and sites.  Raise questions about them, point out strengths and weaknesses, apply the tests of evidence and the four C's to them.  

4.  Your working draft (WD) of essay 2 is due next Monday.  Review the format and requirements for working drafts.  Upload it directly to the Pluto server at Palomar by ftp.  See the FTP Instructions for how to do this.  If you have any problems with ftp, let me know about them and get them resolved before this working draft is due.
