This Week's Work:  Monday, March 9

This is week 8 of the spring semester.  You should submit your weekly update by the end of the day today.

Complete the following reading this week:

Two working drafts for peer review.  For this working draft, review the essays of the two people whose names appear above yours in your group list in your Blackboard group page.

Complete the following writing this week:

1 Your working draft (WD) of essay 2 is due today.  Review the format and requirements for working drafts.  Upload it directly to the Pluto server at Palomar by ftp.  See the FTP Instructions for how to do this.  If you have any problems with ftp, let me know about them and get them resolved before this working draft is due.

2.  Your peer review of WD 2 for two other members of your editorial group.  Submit this no later than the end of the day tomorrow, Tuesday.  You may, of course, do it earlier.  Follow the format for Basic Peer Review.  Send a copy of your peer review to me and a copy to the writer of the essay.  For this working draft, review the essays of the two people whose names appear above yours in your group list in your Blackboard group page.

3.  Your revised essay 2 is due next Monday, March 16.  Upload it directly to the Pluto server at Palomar by ftp.  See the FTP Instructions for how to do this.  Review the format and requirements for revised essays.

You should have completed the following reading last week:

1At least two Internet sites and two periodical articles from the on-line data bases that are relevant to a topic you are thinking about writing on.

2.  Review the Internet sites posted by the members of your group in your Group Discussion Board

You should have completed the following writing last week:

1.  Your trial thesis statement and the Internet addresses of two Internet sites that are relevant to the topic you are thinking about writing on.  In your posting summarize what you might try to argue from the source and provide a summary of why you think the source is a good one.

2.  Reply to each of the postings with your analysis and criticism of the thesis statements and sites.

Note: This coming Saturday, March 14, is the last day to drop a semester-length class with a grade of W.  After Saturday, your instructors will be required to give you an evaluative grade in the class.  If you are behind in any of your classes (including this one) take the time this week to realistically consider whether you can catch up and complete the semester.  After this week, you will no longer have the option of dropping.
