GCMW 206 - Motion Graphics Production and Compositing (with NukeX)
While instructor Mark Bealo is both an Apple Certified Pro and Apple Certified Trainer for Shake, Final Cut Pro, Color and Motion, this semester we are switching from Shake (Apple stopped supporting it) to The Foundry's Nuke. Students can expect a lively environment in which they will gain understanding of how complex visual effects and special effects are created using a node based user interface. This course will delve into effective techniques in green and blue screen removal, wire and rig removal, tracking, morphing, and compositing with 2D and 3D imagery in addition to many other facets of high end visual effects. Former students especially enjoy a project in which each seamlessly puts him or herself into an existing scene.

For an example of the kinds of things each student may learn how to do, have a look at how Brickyard VFX enabled Massachusetts to look like Alaska for The Proposal, how Centropolis FX created the visual effects for The Patriot, and how Nuke was used to composite Alice in Wonderland.
