3) Palomar OFFICES WILL BE CLOSED on 2/15, 2/18, and 3/25 through 3/31.

CONTACT & COMMUNICATION:

1)      Office Hours: T & TH - 12:30 - 2 pm and by appointment.

2)      Phone and voicemail: 760-744-1150, extension 3256;

a.      I am available by phone during office hours on a first come first served basis. I am also available for phone appointments.

3)      E-mail: ddozier@palomar.edu.

a.      When to email me: Please do not email me unless your business is of a personal nature. Rather than email me with questions about the class, please post your questions on the discussion board for your class. This has many benefits. Other students may have the same question as you do and so their questions will get answered, too. In addition, other students may be able to earn participation points by answering your question.

b.      How to email me: If the format of your email subject line is different than the one that follows your email will be sorted to the trash can. Sorry, but I get so much spam that I no longer have the time to sort through all my email and Palomar does not provide secretarial support for answering email. Here is the format for the subject line: the section # of your class, your name as it appears in PAR, and the topic of the email. A few sample subject lines might read:

30005, Gore Vidal, Appointment to discuss my progress, please.

30888, Sally Ride, Can you help me figure out how to get into graduate school?

30888, Maurice Sendak, Left book in the room where the wild things are, did you find it?

30005, Chavela Vargas, I will be on a performance tour next week.

c.      You should know that I do not answer email when the question put to me is covered in the course materials. Before you email me make sure your question is not covered in the syllabus or the class FAQs.

d.    I try to answer your email within 48 business hours.  For example, if you contact me on Friday afternoon you can expect an answer by the end of the day on Tuesday, maybe sooner if my inbox is empty, maybe later if my inbox is full. Procrastinators may find this a good opportunity to move into a new head space.

SUBMITTING YOUR WORK:

1)      All work will be submitted through Blackboard (BB). If you do not know how to use BB contact or stop by Academic Technology for assistance, ext. 2862/2877.

2)      Make sure your name and class number as well as the title of the assignment appear on each page you submit in case your work is electronically misplaced.

a.      30005, Sally Ride, Book Review, Spring 2013 -- for example.

3)      You are responsible for getting your work in on time. No mechanical excuses accepted. If you miss two assignments I will assume you are no longer a student in the class unless you contact me and we come to an agreement. Medical excuses require confirmation – like an ER bill with your name on it or a note from your MD.
