Belt
T.C. Cook
This morning when you got dressed for work,
You threaded your brown leather belt
Lovingly through each loop
On your Levis that are just tight enough.
Now, I push the strap back through the buckle,
Then I pull the strap slowly to the right,
So the belt becomes deliciously
Taut around your hips for just a second
Before the metal prong slips out of the hole.
I run my finger delicately down the length
Of the leather.
Now, the two ends lay to either side, spent.
Your belt is undone
